DataVault is a hardware and a software solution. Our current version includes a DataVault box and an external storage unit.
All of your files are stored on a hard drive which is then attached to a special device called the DataVault box. Together we call this a DataVault set
. |
| One DataVault set is installed at a local location (for example, the client's office). |
| One DataVault set is installed at a remote location (for example, the business owner's home). |
| The DataVault keeps identical copies of the data in both locations. |
The following example will show how data is backep up.
The client modifies a letter (the changes are show on the right as the red lines). |
| Every day, at a scheduled time (usually after 6:00 p.m.), a previously installed backup utility (part of the DataVault package) copies the modified file from the user's computer to the Local DataVault. |
During the night, the Local DataVault using an encrypted connection, starts transferring the data to the Remote DataVault. Note that only the modified parts of the file are transferred.
This methodology allows the use of DataVault on any standard high speed Internet connection. |
Once the entire backup task ends, a full copy of the modified file is created in the historical folder for that day.
Please note, this is not to be confused with an incremental backup where a small amount of data relative to a full backup is done. For recovery purposes, incremental backups require the use of software, which may not be the most feasible choice in a disaster recovery procedure in case the software is not available in the remote location. |
The DataVault is always linked to the client’s network. To recover data the client can easily access the device using Windows Explorer. The recovery of data is instant, and files modified days or weeks before can easily be accessed using the traditional copy-and-paste procedure.
There is no need for proprietary software, confusing procedures or expensive applications. |
Additionally, in a disaster recovery situation where the client may not have access to his local or remote network, it is possible to link the external data storage directly to any PC to instantly recover the data. |
